Public Service Retirement

For all Public Servants, including Health Service Executive staff, who entered the service on or before the 31st March 2004, retirement is compulsory on reaching the age of 65 years.

However, this compulsory retirement age has now been removed, enabling staff to remain longer in work, should they wish to. This applies to all staff who commenced work in the public service after the 1st of April 2004.
