Research Advisory Panel

Membership of the Panel represents a cross section of HR managers and experts from across the Civil / Public Service and academia, involving people who can help shape and advance thinking, understanding and good practice in the areas of recruitment, selection and assessment in the public sector. The Research Advisory Panel meet on a quarterly basis to discuss and review current research projects.

Objectives & Scope

The overall aim of the Panel is to create a platform for Best Practice by shaping the advancement of Public Sector recruitment, selection and assessment issues by:

  • Prompting discussion and debate on topical issues of particular interest or concern to members of the Panel
  • Outlining experience in dealing with a particular recruitment, selection and/or assessment issues - problems, solutions and successes of current processes, and the way organizations can best adapt in a changing environment
  • Identifying current thinking and prompt the development of new ideas on recruitment, selection and assessment issues
  • Actively communicating findings/ position(s) on issues on a regular basis via a number of channels
  • Publishing practical guidelines on issues for Public Sector practitioners
  • Developing the key skills and competencies to successfully move into senior management positions in the Public Service
  • Development of a consolidated, unified Public Service competancy framework
