What Happens if I Get a Job

So you've got the job, what next?

If you've just got a job in the Civil service, well done! This is the first step in a great career. No matter what your role, every effort will be made to help you achieve your career goals and work where you want to.

Within your first few weeks, you'll have a chance to settle in, get to know your work colleagues and find out more about your job and what is expected of you. Your line manager or the Training Officer may suggest some courses to help develop your skills for the job. Or if you have any suggestions of your own, your ideas will be more than welcome. Once you are settled in and understand your role fully, you will begin to participate in the team.

Moving your Career in the right direction

As you develop in your role, you may decide that you want more from your career or you may even want a complete career change. The Civil Service has plenty to offer you. New and exciting positions and new courses are advertised regularly so an opportunity is never too far away.

If you need a career break, The Civil Service offer flexible options and it's one of the few careers where you can return to your job after a break away.

Whatever your ambitions, getting a Job in the Civil Service opens the door to a world of opportunities.
