The Government has decided to relocate over 10,000 civil and public service jobs to 55 locations in 25 other counties outside Dublin.
This facility here at www.publicjobscaf.ie, gives information about the new locations and jobs. It allows certain public servants to apply for transfer to posts at the same or equivalent level in decentralised locations and to rank preferences for different locations.
You should use the CAF if:
- some or all of the jobs in your department or organisation are being decentralised and you want to move to the new location; or
- you would prefer to move to a different location with a different department or organisation.
Important!
It is important that you use the CAF even if your name is already on an existing transfer list or if you have already written to your own or another department/ organisation looking for a transfer to a decentralised location.
If you are working in an organisation which is not decentralising, you may still be able to apply for decentralisation.
Organisations participating in the Programme
If you have not yet made up your mind, please take some time to find out more about the jobs being moved and the new locations by exploring this site. We also advise that you talk to your local Liaison Officer and /or HR advisor (View Useful Contact Details)
If you have decided that you do not want to move to a decentralised location, do nothing now.
The priority closing date for applications to the Central Applications Facility (CAF) was the 7th of September 2004. After this date, applications are still being accepted. Preference will be given to those who apply after the 7th of September in the order of the date of application. Should a number of applications be made on the same day, the ranking will be on the basis of seniority.
Key Questions Answered
For more detail on how the CAF works, please read the following short document (How the CAF Works) which summarises how the process works. It will provide clear answers to the following questions:
- Who should use the CAF?
- What information is on the CAF?
- What applications are possible under the CAF?
- There are conditions on transfers?
- Can I withdraw or change my application?
- When will the move to a decentralised location take place?
Management & Union Discussions
You can find out more about the CAF and how staff transfers under the decentralisation programme will be managed by reading another document which has been prepared following discussions between management and the civil and public service unions. This contains more information about the human resource procedures which will be followed under the CAF. It is strongly recommended that you take the time to read this more detailed document.
Withdrawing An Application
Read the instructions on how to withdraw an application or, alternatively, contact the CAF Hot-Line at 1890 232 031 for assistance.
Other Options
If it is more convenient for you, you may prefer to drop into the Careers Store of the Civil Service Commission at Chapter House, 26 - 30 Abbey Street Upper, Dublin 1 to go ‘on-line’ and make our application. Our Careers Store personnel will be more than happy to assist you.
You may wish to make your application by phone by calling the CAF Application Hotline to make your application on 1890 252031. The Hotline will be open, Monday to Friday, from 9.15 - 5.15.
