The Public Appointments Service was established, under the Public Service Management (Recruitment and Appointments) Act 2004, on 19th October 2004.
The Minister of Finance, Brian Cowan, T.D., following consultation with the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, the Minister for Health and Children and the Minister for Justice and Law Reform, appointed nine people to the second Board in March 2008.
